About this list
These are the places where you can sit down and play a game: clubs with open evenings, cafés and bars with boards, stone tables and giant sets outdoors, civic-centre tables and festival tournaments that take outside players. They spread from the old town, Gràcia and Sants to Sant Andreu and Nou Barris, and on to the towns around the city, from Badalona to Castelldefels.
If you are new to the city, easy first games are found at a café meet-up, at the stone tables of the Sant Antoni superblock, on a Sunday in the Parc de la Ciutadella or at an evening that welcomes visitors. A short message before the first visit tells you whether guests are welcome that day and whether to bring a set.
