Rated chess in and around Barcelona 27

Here games count for a rating, whether on the international FIDE list or on the list of the Catalan federation. The season runs from the weekly autumn opens of the city and its towns, played a round a week, through the winter and spring opens to the summer internationals of Badalona, Sants, Sant Martí and Sant Adrià, with the territorial championship alongside. Several events belong to federation circuits that link opens across the Barcelona area and the rest of Catalonia.

Some rated events have a narrower field: a children's open at the Les Corts Festa Major, an age-group open in the Guinardó and a women's open in Cornellà. Rated play asks for some preparation: a federation licence or a FIDE ID, and registration before the organiser's deadline. Time controls run from blitz to long classical games, and many opens split the field into groups by rating.
