Blitz gives each player a few minutes for the whole game, so a tournament of many rounds fits into an afternoon. Here you find the blitz tournaments of the city and the towns around it: regular blitz opens, blitz events beside the big summer opens, and festival and holiday tournaments.

Tres Peons in Gràcia holds a blitz open several times a year, and the Obert Sagrada Família at Torrenegra counts for the FIDE blitz list. The summer internationals of Badalona and Sant Martí add a blitz open, blitz is part of the Sants international in August, Castelldefels plays its Festa Major tournament at a blitz pace, and the Barceloneta neighbours' association holds a tournament in the Port Vell in late spring. The holiday season brings a Christmas tournament in Sant Boi and El Prat's 'Torneo del Jamón' in January, and Cerdanyola has a blitz tournament of its own. Some events take entries on the day; rated ones ask for registration in advance.
