Chess groups and meet-ups in Barcelona 6
About this list
Some of Barcelona's chess players gather as groups rather than clubs. One Meetup group meets at the Torrenegra club in the Eixample on the first Monday of each month, and another plays friendly games on Saturdays at the Casinet d'Hostafrancs civic centre, with the odd tournament of its own. The Barcelona Chess Meetup plays on Sunday afternoons in the Parc de la Ciutadella from spring to autumn and moves indoors to a café for the winter.
A weekly chess night on Sunday evenings promises informal games with no tournaments and no ratings, free of charge, and a social chess club has run pop-up nights in bars and on rooftops, though no next date is announced. Chess Free Tour BCN walks visitors through the city and ends over a board in a bar, in English, Spanish or Catalan. Check each group's own page for the next date.
