Chess960 in Barcelona

Chess960, also called Fischer Random, shuffles the pieces on the back rank before each game, so memorised openings stop mattering and both players think from the first move. The rules and a place to play it online are on this Chess960 site.

Over the board it is still rare around Barcelona: it turns up as an occasional club activity and as a blitz tournament in a nearby town.

How an entry gets onto the list

An entry needs a name and at least one public source: a club website, a federation listing, a council or civic-centre programme, an event page, a press article or a map listing. Names stay as the organisers write them, in Catalan, Spanish or both.

Each fact carries a flag (official, secondary or unverified) and a link to its source; where the sources say nothing, the card says "not stated by sources" instead of a guess. The full rules are on the method page, and corrections go through the suggestion form.
